Geocaching with Geocacher Ken

Good morning everyone.  Today I'm going to look at the Letterbox cache.  The oldest active Letterbox in North Dakota is 'Ten to the 2nd Power cache' GC3FZY2, hidden in April, 2012.  The youngest, or newest is 'Grazing Bison' GC89QGK, hidden in June, 2019.  For Manitoba, 'World Peace' GCG4ZM, hidden in May, 2003 and recently activated again by adopted owner Bike-4-Me.  The youngest (or newest) by virtue of the GC code is 'Dani-Radius', GC8B79F.  Twenty one letterbox caches were hidden on July 24 (including the above mentioned Dani-Radius), along with 39 other letterbox caches that were hidden in June to form possibly the largest letterbox powertrail. Since my epic trip to North Dakota and the camping and caching event, I have basically done no caching at all.  I do have one find that I had found a week ago.  An evilish hide from RichardFam5 that I was able to spot, but too longer to get my fingers on.  That's it.  One find for the month...

Good morning everyone.  Did you know there are 26 Earthcaches in North Dakota?  The oldest is 'Horizon's Gift of Glaciers' GCZDAX, published in November, 2006.  The newest is 'Kettle Lake Earthcache' GC6RFFW, published in September, 2016.  Manitoba has 64 Earthcaches.  The oldest is 'Dunes Day' GC12902, published in April, 2007.  The newest is 'The Oxbow of the Red' GC81PQP, published in December, 2018. Good morning everyone.  Did you know that there are 3,101 active geocaches in North Dakota?  That is good for 48th place in the U.S., ahead of Delaware (2,903), Hawaii (2,450), and District of Columbia (245).  Meanwhile, Manitoba has 8,810 active geocaches, good for 9th in Canada.  Newfoundland (8,171), Yukon (389), Northwest (383) and Nunavut (103) have fewer. Good morning everyone.  Did you know that there are 108 active web cam geocaches in the United States?  They are located in 39 out of 51 states, including the District of Columbia.  Canada has six web cams in four provinces.  Neither North Dakota or Manitoba have web cams. It's day two of my trip.  Friday, June21st.  I woke up to see that it had rained a bit.  I want to grab a few more caches in Williston before heading back out on the highway.  One thing I saw quite a few of in my travels is wood carvings from dead trees.  Instead of cutting the tree right down, an artist created a carving.  There is a park in Williston with a whole bunch of these carvings.  Quite impressive to see.  The one pictured below is at the Williston Visitor's Centre. Good morning everyone.  Did you know that only four provinces have a Webcam geocache?  Ontario, B.C., Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan.  39 out of 51 States (including District of Columbia) have a Webcam geocache.  The closest Webcam to Winnipeg is Ely Webcam (GCP6T7) in Ely, Minnesota.  Approximately a four and a half hour drive from here. For those who have been following along for awhile now, have seen me mention the North Dakota Camping and Caching event a few times over the past months.  That weekend finally arrived.  Months of planning and prepping has come down to the final hours.  I opted to not camp this year, but do the cheap motel route.  That would be interesting in itself.  Before I get to my first cheap hotel in Williston, North Dakota, I have a seven plus hour drive and a number of caches to find.  I'm also working on my North Dakota county challenge, plus other challenges that I either have already stated or have come...

Good morning everyone.  The daily caching streak.  Have you done one?  What is your longest?  Did you know that there are six geocachers in Manitoba that went more than one thousand days in a row of finding a geocache?  There are seventy six Canadians with streaks over one thousand days.  Four hundred and twenty seven American geocachers have streaks over one thousand days.  None of those are from North Dakota.
