Geocaching and the June Photo Contest.

 Good morning everyone.  Today we stop in Vermont for the oldest and most favorite.  Once again, it's the same geocache that claims both honors.  'Vermont 1'  GC86.  This multi-stage cache was placed on October 14, 2000.  So far, it has been found 821 times and has 436 favorite points.

It's that time of month where I announce the winner of the May photo contest and reveal what the theme will be for June.  For the month of May, the theme was April Showers Bring May Flowers.  A picture of anything that blooms.  It could be flowers, leaves, weeds, anything that will bloom or sprout as a result of April showers.

Here are this month's enteries.  All four are first time entrants.  First up is TeamAdventure4.  They recently adopted a bunch of geocaches.  Most are ammo cans that have been in play for 15 years.  While searching for the ones they haven't found yet, they did come across a hillside of blooming trilliums.


Next up is our first international entry.  This is RIVOL from Spain.  He found a geocache in a field of flowers.  I want to say those are daisies, but I don't really know my flowers.  This is such a cool picture.


The third entry is a little more local to me.  Woyfamily from Gimli, Manitoba.  One day I will feature Gimli in a blog.  It's another one of those blogs that I have started, but never completed.  I have traveled to the Gimli area and found some of their creative caches.   Their entry shows the garlic that was planted last fall and has started to grow.  We also see onions growing as well.

Our last entry comes from lilsprinkles67.  Here we see two of her six flower boxes along with a newly purchased iron goat.  Very pretty flowers.


Before I enter the names into the wheel of names, let's look at what's up for grabs for prizes this month.  There are four different prize packages to pick from.  Prize package #1: a fridge magnet, trackable button, another button, a Star Trek themed pathtag and a pathtag that has been donated by UDac.

Now for June.  After some thought, I decided to Keep It Simple (KISS).  Simply find a geocache and take a picture of your find.  Easy peasy.  I look forward to seeing all the entries for June.

Geocaching and July, 2022

Good morning everyone.  Last month I was a little late in getting that month's blog published, but this month I want to get this out early.  I'll explain why later. July has been an interesting month.  I've been on a few adventures, rode my bike, and I've been hosting a weekly themed event. July started off with Auntie Mo and myself going on a spur of the moment road trip into the Southeast portion of Manitoba to do an Adventure Lab that takes us to some roadside attractions.  There was other ALs to do as well. Geocaching and Patreon

Good morning everyone.  Almost 10 months is completed for the year 2019.  Where has the time gone?  Who has found the most geocaches so far?  In Canada, it's Troqueurs32 with 10,423 finds.  That's almost ten thousand more than me.  Down in the U.S., mondou2 has found 16,743 geocaches.  Locally, 4elements5senses has logged 2,169 finds so far among Manitoba based geocachers.  Tick_Magnet is the top North Dakotan with 2,004. Geocaching and May, 2022

Good morning everyone, In the past, I've always wrote about my geocaching experiences first, followed by an update on my weight loss.  This month I'm combining the two since they were intertwined together somewhat.  Now that the weather has finally improved, I can make good on one of my goals.  Ride my bike more this year.  What is more?  I don't think I rode it at all last year, and I couldn't say for sure the year before that.   The first thing I needed to do was buy a helmet.  I'm old school when it comes to wearing a bike helmet.  Didn't grow up wearing one (no one did), so why do I need one now?  I'm not getting any younger and I should look after myself, and that includes wearing a bike helmet. Now that I have a helmet, I'm off to explore bike paths.  That's another thing I didn't have growing up; designated bike paths.  And while I'm out riding my bike, I might stop for a geocache or two or three. ...
