Good morning everyone. How many geocaches have you found with the "Dog friendly" attribute? According to project-gc, I have 1,516 dog friendly attributes and only 51 that are not dog friendly.
Today I want to touch on Geo-pets. Our furry, four-legged children that we take with us geocaching. I think, for the most part, dogs make up the majority of the percentage of the geo-pets. I haven't heard of anyone taking their cat or hamster with them when they go out geocaching. Some include the pet in their geocaching name, and some simply use the pet's name as their geocaching name.
I know of a few local geocachers that have taken their four-legged children with them geocaching. Jesterphox has Ash and missionMode has Chewy. 4elements5senses created a series of geocaches titled "Walking with Karma" where her and her geo-pup Karma go walking. There are many, many other geo-pets that accompany their geocaching owners on walks/hikes, in search of geocaches. Scrolling through the various social media groups for geocaching and chances are you'll come across someone who found a geocache and their geo-pet is posing with the container. Once in awhile there will be an announcement of the passing of a beloved four-legged family member and geocaching partner.
Are you an owner of a geo-pet? Even if you don't really take your furry child out with you, they are still geo-pets. If you are one of those geocachers with a geo-pet, give that pet a great big hug. This is why you should. My boys, d-2002 and MewTwo recently lost their geo-pup tragically last weekend. This blog is more in the memory of their pup, Dexter. I would see Dexter almost every day when I dropped d-2002 off at home after school. Dexter knew he would get some loving scratches from me and was always happy to see me. There has been an emptiness, a void this week when I drop d-2002 off at home. I had found a small squeeky duck in MewTwo's cache one day and had it in my jacket pocket. While visiting the boys, I would squeeze that little duck and it would get Dexter's attention. I've taken that duck out of my pocket as there's no reason to squeak it anymore. :(

"Those who died yesterday had plans for this morning. And those who died this morning had plans for tonight. Don't take life for granted. In a blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never know when you may not have that chance again." - Unknown.
My apologies for a short blog this week and for the lack of a geocaching story. Rest in peace Dexter. You were loved and you will be missed. You left your paw prints all over our hearts.
