Good morning everyone,
In the past, I've always wrote about my geocaching experiences first, followed by an update on my weight loss. This month I'm combining the two since they were intertwined together somewhat. Now that the weather has finally improved, I can make good on one of my goals. Ride my bike more this year. What is more? I don't think I rode it at all last year, and I couldn't say for sure the year before that.
The first thing I needed to do was buy a helmet. I'm old school when it comes to wearing a bike helmet. Didn't grow up wearing one (no one did), so why do I need one now? I'm not getting any younger and I should look after myself, and that includes wearing a bike helmet.
Now that I have a helmet, I'm off to explore bike paths. That's another thing I didn't have growing up; designated bike paths. And while I'm out riding my bike, I might stop for a geocache or two or three.
On my third ride of the season, I found this letterbox cache.
My fourth ride took me along the rapid transit corridor and into the subdivision of Lindenwoods. Ten geocaches found and I did a full 5 stage Adventure Lab.
One of the ten that I found on this particular bike ride.
I came across this group/flock/hoarde/gang of pelicans while doing the Adventure Lab.
Three more geocaches was found on my fifth bike ride. I skipped going to the gym so I could go for a ride after work down to the Forks.
That's what my fourth ride along the rapid transit corridor looked like. The Adventure Lab has a bonus cache, but that required more peddling and I still have to return to my car that's parked 10 kilometers away at the southern tip of my trip.
There was one more ride, my biggest one yet in terms of distance. I had three caches on my route, but the muggles were too close at two of them to give a proper search.
I've been spending less time at the gym and more outside. That was planned and part of my goal to ride my bike more. I'm taking my workouts outside.
For the month of May, I found 23 traditional caches, 2 mystery, 1 letterbox, 5 stages of an Adventure Lab, 3 events, and 1 CITO. Of those finds, 11 traditional was found by bike, along with 1 letterbox, 1 mystery and the AdventureLab. Almost half of my caching was done by bike.
For my biking numbers, I went on six rides for a total of 90km peddled. That's an average of 15km per ride. I'm looking forward to doing longer rides over the course of the summer. And now for my weigh in. My weight has been up and down as per usual. I have been seeing numbers constantly in the 226 range. That's a drop of two pounds since last month.
That was the month of May. A more productive month for geocaching. Until next month, be happy, stay safe, hug your pets, and most importantly, just have fun. Peace out ✌️
There's always just one more picture or two. The top picture is what our events have basically looked like since the pandemic started. A tailgate party in a parking lot somewhere. The bottom is the results of a CITO. Aside from the usual garbage, we also found a tarp, a tent, and from a different spot, bathroom tiles.
