Geocaching and Solving Puzzles pt. 1

Good morning everyone.  We head into the final leg of our journey as we go North for the oldest and most favorite.  Today's stop is in Nunavut Territory.  The first geocache placed was 'DNTO5'  GC681.  Placed on April 4, 2001, it was never found before being archived two years later.  The oldest active geocache is 'As North As It Gets!'  GC5803.  Placed in May, 2002, it has been found 38 times with no favorite points.  There is a tie for the cache with the most favorite points.  'Emily's Arctic Cache'  GC1HEGW was hidden October 20, 2008.  It has been found 30 times with 7 favorite points.  Also with 7 favorite points is 'Where Am I? I'm a little rusty....'  GC5D48D.  Hidden on September 16, 2014, it has been found 11 times. Geocaching has seen an uptick in new people playing the game because of the pandemic.  Some will stick around for a while and continue to play.  Like most new players (I was a noob once myself), they may not understand h

Geocaching and Making a Video.

Good morning everyone.  Today we stop at 'The Rock'.  No, not the actor/professional wrestler, but the Province of New Foundland and Labrador.  The most favorited 'cache' was 'Bernie's Traveling Geocache'  GC2179.  As the title suggests, this was a moving or traveling geocache.  Hidden (or activated) in October, 2001, this has 2,092 logged finds and 427 favorite points before being converted to a trackable in 2017.  The most favorite cache amongst active geocaches is 'Extreme East'  GCWJZ3.  Hidden in June, 2006, this cache has 1,269 found logs and 157 favorite points.  'The Lookout: first ever cache in New Foundland'  GCE1C is exactly as the title says, New Foundland's first and still active geocache.  Hidden in June, 2001, it has 307 logged finds and 88 favorite points. I've been hinting and teasing about doing something different and today is the big reveal.  As the title to today's blog suggests, I made my very first geocachi

Geocaching and the Second Quarter Report

Good morning everyone.  Today we are taking the Confederation Bridge over the Northumberland Straight to Prince Edward Island.  The smallest province in Canada.  'Confederation Landing'  GC2G0YM has the most favorite points with 250.  Hidden October 1, 2010, this traditional placed in Confederation Landing Park in Charlottetown has 1,599 found logs, making it the most found cache.  The oldest is 'Charlottetown Memories'  GC1A17.  Located just outside of Charlottetown, this traditional was placed on September 28, 2001.  It has 977 found logs and 138 favorite points. It's time for me to look back at the second stretch of three months in 2021.  The first three months saw me claim 106 caches.  Those three months cover January and February, traditionally the colder months of the year and the only two months with fewer than three hundred finds each.  The second quarter covers most of the Spring months and generally an uptick in finds.  Let's see how I did. April:  Th

Geocaching and the July Photo Contest

Good morning everyone.  We make our way across the Maritimes of Canada and stop in Nova Scotia. I didn't need to look this one up, but I needed the numbers for the oldest and most favorite geocache in Nova Scotia.  Any good Canadian geocacher should know that 'Geocache--Canada's 1st geocache'  GCBBA is exactly what the name says.  Canada's first and oldest active geocache.  Hidden June 28th, 2000, this geocache just turned 21 years old this past week.  Found 2,758 times with 944 favorite points, making it the most favorite geocache in Nova Scotia as well. It's that time to announce the winner of the June photo contest and announce the July photo contest.  Let's take a look at the entries. First up is MUDac doing an Adventure Lab in California.  It's part of the Route 66 Adventure Lab series. Next is KennyMasonMady working on some geo-art in Pennsylvania. From Australia, it's Geocaching Gems with an awesome cache hidden outside a geocacher's home
