Geocaching and the Zoo Event

Good morning everyone.  An interesting stat I came across on Project-gc.  176 caches that I have found have had their D/T rating change since I found it.  Most have had either the difficulty, the terrain, or both increased.  Changing the D/T rating after it's been found does affect your fizzy grid.  One of the changes was an Earthcache that went from a terrain 3.5 down to a 1.  The road is questionable and I can't see a wheelchair going over these mucky hills.  That's one square on my mystery fizzy grid that is empty again, thanks to having it changed.  That can be a subject for a whole blog. Saturday was a bitter sweet sort of day.  Bitter because the border between Canada and the United States remains closed to Canadians, so I am unable to attend the Gilby Gone Wild event.  Sweet because the annual zoo event here was taking place the same day.  This would be only my second time attending the zoo event. (Waiting for the zoo to open) Each year, there are new geocaches plac

Geocaching and Project-gc plus other stuff

Good morning everyone.  Looking at the first ten caches ever placed in Manitoba, six are still active.  That means four are archived.  Of the six still active, I have found three of them.  Two have been on my wishlist for quite some time, and I don't think I'll ever get that tenth one.  Here's a list of the top 10: I have #1 (GC21C), #4 (GC10F1) and #7 (GC14B4).  I have no plans on getting #3 (GCDCF).  It requires a canoe or some other form of water transportation, which I don't own. One thing that has been on my wish list was a premium membership to Project-gc.  I love the site and all the fun information you can get from it.  Up until recently, I've been a basic member.  When I was looking at all the oldest and most favorite caches around Canada and the United States, it was done on a basic membership and having to run multiple queries to get the information I needed. The price for a one year premium membership at Project-gc is $24US, or $30CDN after the exchange

Geocaching and the Trans-Canada Highway Adventure Lab Series

Good morning everyone.  I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with this opening paragraph.  It should be something that's interesting, a fun fact about geocaching.  Stay tuned.  Hopefully soon. Last week I mentioned going on an adventure, scouting out places for an Adventure Lab.  Today is the results of that day.   The pictures didn't download in their proper order, so I'll just go with the flow of the pictures and there's plenty of pictures.  The Trans-Canada Highway Adventure Lab Series - Austin MacGregor has ten stages.  I did scout out more than ten locations plus I found a few geocaches as well.  Let's see where last Sunday took me. Four of my stops are at cairns commemorating previous schools or school divisions.  These are things I discovered because of geocaching.  This one is for the Image Hill school.  You don't see the plaque because an answer to a question is on it.  Although, if you look closely to the far right side of the pict

Geocaching and Random Thoughts

Good morning everyone.  This week was supposed to be part two of the epic vitual road trip, looking at the caches with the most favorite points.  To be honest, I haven't sat down at my laptop this week to pull all that information together.  It's not just this past week or being too busy.  I just haven't felt like it.  When I get home from work, I want to veg and watch geocaching podcasts, geocaching videos, football, baseball, or pro wrestling (rasslin' as I jokingly refer to it).  There's a good chance that I'll fall asleep watching any of these.   In the past, I'll start writing my next blog early in the week with ample time to edit.  Now it's being put together (just like this one) on Sunday morning, just mere hours before it's to be published, while still in bed.  The creative part is still there, but the drive has gone kaput.  Even editing my videos has been slow.  I have a few adventures waiting to be edited.  I did do one this past week, but
