Geocaching and Pictures part 3

Good morning everyone.  No fun fact for this week and I'll explain why.  I have been busy this week packing and moving.  Today (Saturday) was moving day.  This is my fifth move in five years.  This time, I hired a moving company.  It is now after 10pm and I can finally sit down and relax.  I knew what my blog would be about this week, just needed a few minutes to sit down at the laptop.  As the title says, it's another blog where I share pictures from previous geocaching adventures.  However, I thought I would switch it up just a bit.  Instead of cool containers I have found, these are pictures of sunrises and sunsets.  Are you up early enough and finding geocaches when the sun rises?  Do you stop to take in the beauty of the sunrise?  Or are you like me and are typically out geocaching later in the day and catch a sunset? Another reason why I chose these pictures is a little symbolic for me.  The sun has set on a chapter of my life where the living conditions started out goo

Geocaching and the Geocaching Guild

Good morning everyone.  This week I'm going to share my hide stats.  I have hidden (or hosted an event) 68 caches so far.  Of those sixty eight, fifty are archived.  That number will likely increase in the future.  My hides have covered eleven different difficulty/terrain combinations, with 1.5/1.5 being the most common.  I have received 3,772 found logs on 365 days out of 366 days in a calendar year.  I'm missing November 27th.  How do your hide stats look in comparison? I'm sure many of you have heard of a FB page called The Geocaching Guild.  It is the home for geocachers who like to blog.  Do you know it's history or what goes on behind the scenes of this FB page.  This week I'm going to reveal it's brief history.  I have touched on what goes on in previous blogs, but today, it's devoted to The Geocaching Guild.  So how did this page get it's start?  I'm also using some random pictures from geocaching adventures as I like to include pictures wi

Geocaching and the Vegas Vacation.

Good morning everyone.  Did you know there are 56 Virtual caches in the state of Nevada?  32 of those are in Clark County, where you'll find a city you may have heard of.  Las Vegas.  You'll also find in Clark County 44 Earthcaches, 24 WherIGos, 42 Letterbox (Washoe County, home of Reno has 225), 102 multi-stage, 372 unknown/mystery, and 6,337 traditional caches.  E.T. Highway power trail accounts for a good percentage of those traditional caches. I was looking over all the blogs I have written and it occurred to me that I haven't written about one particular vacation I took.  This goes back to February, 2017 when I went to Las Vegas with sm66, her sister and brother-in-law.  Myself and sm66 had never been to Vegas, while her sister and husband have been, so we were relying on their experience to help us newbies.  Like any geocacher, I checked out the map on Geocaching.com to see what geocaches are available.  This trip wasn't about geocaching, but since I'm there

Geocaching and Blogging

Good morning everyone.  Did you know that on Project-gc there is a badge for the average amount of words used when writing a found log?  'The Author' badge can be found in the BadgeGen section.  The lowest total for the Bronze badge is an average of 30 words.  Highest badge is Diamond for an average of 100 words per found log.  That makes for long logs.  My average is 48.  What is your average? Last week, I was a co-guest blogger for the Geocache Talk monthly blog.  This is the second time that I have been featured on this forum.  For those that are not familiar with Geocache Talk, it is a weekly podcast show, usually airs on Sunday, around 8pm Central time.  It is hosted by Gary (gslink) and Jesse (Memfis Mafia).  Every week it's a different topic with different guests and the show runs for about 90 minutes.   If you miss the actual show, you can catch the replay on YouTube.  They also have a 'network' of other hosts that will appear from time to time on the show

Geocaching and Earthcaches

Good morning everyone.  Did you know there are 2,095 Earthcaches in Canada?  Manitoba has 64 earthcaches, good for eighth spot in Canada.  There are 8,361 Earthcaches in the U.S.  North Dakota has 24 of those, good enough for 47th in the States. A particular topic came up at a couple of events I attended recently.  Earthcaches.  Surprisingly, the geocachers I was talking to didn't like doing earthcaches.  The reasoning was basically the same.  Answering the questions.  I don't mind doing earthcaches and I would like to do more.  However, I do have to agree with the cachers that I spoke to.  Some of the questions are difficult to answer.  I have avoided some earthcaches just for that simple reason.  I've also attempted a few earthcaches where I couldn't answer one or all of the questions.  These are my experiences attempting earthcaches and the results I have had. One of the things I like about earthcaches is that there's no container to search for.  You're a
