Geocaching and the March Photo Contest.

Good morning everyone. It's off to Indiana, the home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500. The oldest active cache is also the most favorite and the most found. 'Indiana's First' GC93 was hidden on October 23, 2000. So far it has 2,937 logged finds and 935 favorite points. It is located in the Elkhart area in Northern Indiana.

This week I wrap up the February photo contest. The theme was to have a picture taken of yourself or your geocaching partner. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry. In no particular order, here are the entrants.

Now for the March photo contest. I'm going to go with a spin from Cache the Line's contest where he asked people to send in pictures of themselves wearing tinfoil hats. For this month's contest, a tinfoil hat is an option, but not required. What is required is a picture of yourself wearing your favorite geocaching hat. It could have something pertaining to geocaching on it, or your favorite sports team, or just a hat you like to wear while out geocaching.

I have a few hats that I own, but I gravitate towards a couple. One being an actual geocaching cap.

That's me with one of the kitties, Tinkers, while I caught Cache the Line's Mars Preserverance watch party. I won this hat at the North Dakota Camping and Caching event in 2018.

As for the prizes for March, depending on which one Snappleandzarfle picks, it'll be winner's choice again between prize package #1

Geocaching and July, 2022

Good morning everyone. Last month I was a little late in getting that month's blog published, but this month I want to get this out early. I'll explain why later. July has been an interesting month. I've been on a few adventures, rode my bike, and I've been hosting a weekly themed event. July started off with Auntie Mo and myself going on a spur of the moment road trip into the Southeast portion of Manitoba to do an Adventure Lab that takes us to some roadside attractions. There was other ALs to do as well. (big Buffalo in Grunthal, Manitoba) (big deer in Saint Malo, Manitoba) Later in the month, I tagged along with Auntie Mo as she did the four Adventure Labs in the East part of Winnipeg. I had done them already, but I couldn't resist giving Auntie Mo a tour of Transcona. Geocaching and June, 2022

Good morning everyone. Better late than never. I had started writing this with intentions of having it ready and published on the first Sunday of the month. I got pulled away and never came back to complete this. We've reached the half way point of 2022. How's your year so far? Comparing numbers, I only went out geocaching on six days in June. Two of the six days produced some decent numbers for finds. One of those days was traveling down to the Pembina Valley area of Manitoba. This is situated towards the U.S. border. Myself and my caching friend, Auntie Mo, attended a Community Celebration event at a location that I didn't know existed. Thanks to geocaching, I now know about it and have been there. Geocaching and Patreon

Good morning everyone. Almost 10 months is completed for the year 2019. Where has the time gone? Who has found the most geocaches so far? In Canada, it's Troqueurs32 with 10,423 finds. That's almost ten thousand more than me. Down in the U.S., mondou2 has found 16,743 geocaches. Locally, 4elements5senses has logged 2,169 finds so far among Manitoba based geocachers. Tick_Magnet is the top North Dakotan with 2,004. If you follow any of the Geocaching YouTubers (vloggers), podcasters, or bloggers, you may have heard some talking about and thanking their Patreon subscribers. What exactly is this Patreon that these people are talking about? Hopefully this week's blog will help you understand the background and connection that these geocaching artists have with Patreon.
